It was first reported that German Moreno AKA Kuya Germs was rushed to the hospital then was reported by GMA News to pass away on January 8, 2016. Later on, GMA News as well as TV director/actress Gina Alajar denied the spreading news.
German Moreno was still in the ICU and in critical condition. Sadly, hours later, at 3:20am, Kuya Germs was confirmed to pass away. Below is the report by GMA News on gmanetwork.com:
In a statement sent to GMA News Online, John Nite said that German Moreno, who is popularly known as Kuya Germs died at 3:20 a.m. due to cardiac arrest, one year after suffering from a stroke.
Nite is Moreno's nephew and co-host in GMA's "Walang Tulogan with the Master Showman."
"He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," he said.
"We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on," he added.
Kuya Germs was well known for his statement 'Walang Tulugan'. Looks like the Master Showman will now sleep tight and join our mighty creator in the heavens above. Kuya's Germs was the creator of 'That's Entertainment' during the 80's and the 90's. The show launched the career of stars like Lea Salonga, Judy Ann Santos, Manilyn Reynes, Janno Gibbs, Sheryl Cruz, Ruffa Guttierez, Lotlot de Leon, and Billy Crawford just to name a few. Up to his last days, German Moreno gave opportunities to Artista hopefulls.
